Rayon Richards is a product of Jamaican parents, a native of Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of School of Visual Arts photography BFA program. His work was first published, 12 years ago in the summer of 2001 while he was still in school. Since then, his images have appeared on the covers and pages of several publications such as O: The Oprah Magazine, Parade, Latina, Guitar World, Fast Company and Huffington Post Magazine. He has also worked with record labels such as Atlantic Records, Universal Records, E1 Music and Island/Def Jam as well as brands like Footlocker, KORG and Ciroc Vodka.
From years in the darkroom to hours in front of a computer monitor, Rayon expects only to make the best image possible no matter what camera he's shooting with. Whether its a portrait of a celebrated personality or a little-known world-changer, each image is meant to create intrigue, share the photographer's vision of the subject and tell a story.
Rayon looks forward to every photographic experience as an opportunity to learn new and exciting things about himself, his work and the people around him.
When Rayon isn't shooting for himself or for others, he enjoys illustration, painting and other fine art mediums that led him to photography. He also watches A LOT of HGTV and is obsessed with AMC's Mad Men. He has a hard time reading anything that's not non-fiction.
"I love what I do and I'm just here to have a good time..."
